The Power, By Naomi Alderman

I know I am a little late to the game, but I have no choice but to talk about this amazing book. I actually heard about this book from a former professor of mine. I passed him in the grocery store and he said, "Have you read, The Power, by Naomi Alderman?" He briefly described the book to me, and I went home that night, and bought the book from Amazon.

Alderman has set up a world of, what if's? What if women had this power that men could never have? What if men were raised to be cautious of women? What if men suddenly had to stay in groups for safety?

It is a gritty story about what women may do if they suddenly have an actual physical power. How would the power be used?

Roxy, Tunde, Allie and Margot, all hail from different parts of the world and share their experience of the evolution of the power.

I don't want to share too much about the story, but trust me when I say it is extremely relevant to the rocky times the world is currently facing. It poses important questions about gender, mothering, compassion, and power.

Happy Reading!

Hugs,

Lisa :)
